South Africa boasts a superb range of choirs as documented
in this unique collection of choral, a-cappella and gospel
from the townships of Cape Town.
Luxolo,
Luhlaza abd Ekhaya are all from Khayelitsha, the largest
of the townships shadowed by Table Mountain, whilst the
Abalingani Brothers hail from Mfuleni, a neighbouring community.
All
the choirs perform regularly throughout the Western Cape
and record through New World Music, a label which, having
grown from the townships of Cape Town, continues to help
and promote local artists and to encourage education for
all.
